Scotland has major problems with alcohol and drugs misuse. Tackling these problems demands effective policy and appropriate services.
In Scotland, we have 22 alcohol and drug action teams, working within defined geographical areas. They are multi-agency groups addressing drink and drugs issues in a joined-up way.
Action teams develop and implement policy in their areas. They allocate funding to service providers. These services range from prevention to treatment and rehabilitation.
SAADAT is a voluntary national body, whose membership comprises all of these action teams. We:
| • |
represent the Action Teams as a body providing expert opinion |
| • |
inform the Action Teams about developments in national, UK, European and international legislation, policy and research |
| • |
facilitate the sharing of information and good practice amongst the Action Teams |
| • |
engage with policy makers and other influential bodies |
